An SPE mentor is an industry professional who volunteers to provide guidance, support, and advice to less experienced members of SPE. SPE mentors leverage their expertise, knowledge, and networks to assist mentees in navigating their careers, developing technical skills, and achieving their professional goals within the oil and gas industry.
The eMentoring program gives SPE members a way to contribute to the E&P industry by sharing industry insights and practical career advice with young professionals, or by helping university students with academic and career direction. Young professionals also have the unique opportunity to serve as mentors to students. It’s easy to communicate via email, Skype, LinkedIn or other social media.
A six-month commitment, communicating at least one or two times per month through the eMentoring system, traditional email, mobile app, telephone, Skype, or on social media. Connect at your convenience and across time zones.
Your role as a mentor is to inspire, encourage, and support your mentee and to contribute to his/her professional and personal development.
Set aside time for the mentoring process and keep all scheduled appointments with your mentee.
Help your mentee take a proactive role in the relationship.
